orange mapleImagine slipping through the still water in a canoe on an autumn day with a cool breeze brushing your face, surrounded by an incredible array of autumn colors.  The brilliant reds, oranges and yellows from the changing leaves, resemble an artist’s palette.

As you turn the next corner, you may encounter the Steamship R.M.S. Segwun taking passengers on a breathtaking cruise of the pristine Muskoka Lakes. Muskoka is now Ontario’s playground and is located at the southern edge of the Canadian Shield between Algonquin Park and Georgian Bay. A land where magnificent 100 foot Muskoka white pines tower over crystal clear lakes and granite rock outcrops. It is quite common to encounter moose,Barred Owl deer and bear or even hear a wolf howl at night.

This reservoir of beautiful scenery, wildlife and history is a cornucopia of subject matter for an artist like myself. This is my home and inspiration.

There is also an unlimited choice of attractions and summer activities such as boating, swimming, hiking and when winter kicks in you can turn your attention to snowmobiling, skating, cross country skiing or dog sledding in Algonquin Park or how about sitting by the fire with a good book.

BaysvilleThe history of this region goes back to the 1800’s when logging was the prime industry. When the logging era ended, Muskoka was transformed into the perfect getaway from Toronto, the big city to the south. Cottages sprang up all over the lakes and with them the construction of grand resorts such as Bigwin Inn, Deerhurst Resort and Windermere House.  Many original antique and classic wooden boats still cruise the lakes and are celebrated throughout the summer at a variety of regattas and antique boat shows.

My studio / art gallery is located just west of Baysville, Ontario, at the all those years agosouth end of Lake of Bays. The perfect destination for a Day Trip from Southern Ontario. I invite you to stop into my gallery for a memorable experience during your next visit to Muskoka Ontario.  If you can’t get here personally, you are welcome to view my artwork at my on-line gallery.

I share my gallery with my wife Lynn, who produces a line of gourmet jams, jellies and vinaigrette dressings called Yummies in a Jar. Please stop in for a delicious sample.
